Craps
Strategy & Tips
- Craps, A Fun & Exciting Game
Craps
players do have the most fun. They are constantly
cheering and laughing and it doesn't seem to matter
what the outcome is. They just love to play. Regardless
if you are up or down, in the end one thing is for
sure, Craps is the most exciting game you'll play
at a casino.
With
all of this being said, Craps is also very intimidating
especially for the first timer. The table is large,
the crowds are big, the bet options are numerous and
even the terminology can sound foreign. All these
factors can easily mislead the beginner player into
thinking this isn't the game for them. Here are some
helpful hints and a few strategies, tips and tricks
for playing the exciting game of Craps.
Let's
start with an explanation of the basic Craps terms;
Come Out Roll - This is the first Roll of a new game.
It occurs either after the point has been made or
when a new shooter is rolling.
Pass
Line - This is an even money wager, and is placed
prior to the Come Out roll. You win automatically
if a 7 or 11 is rolled and you lose if the shooter
rolls a 2, 3, or 12. Any other number rolled is marked
as the 'point', and this number must be repeated before
a seven to win.
Don't
Pass - Similar to the Pass Line, only you win
if a 2 or 3 is rolled and you tie if the shooter rolls
a 12. If a 7 or 11 is rolled you lose. The "point"
is established in the same way only this time you
are betting that the shooter will roll a 7 before
this number turns up.
Come
Bet - This bet is made after the Come Out roll.
The same rules apply to this bet as do to the Pass
Line bet. This wager occurs on the next roll after
you have placed the bet. Whatever number is rolled
next will be the number you are wagering on.
Don't
Come - Also placed after the Come Out roll. The
only difference here is that the rules applied for
this bet are the same as those for a Don't Pass wager.
Odds
Bet - This wager is only applicable to players
who have made at least one of the following bets;
Pass Line, Don't Pass Line, Come Bet or Don't Come
Bet. Odds bets simply backup your existing wager and
payout differently depending on the outcome. See the
game rules for full payout odds.
Field
Bets - This bet can be made at anytime and the
player wins even money if a 3, 4, 9, 10 or 11 is rolled.
If the shooter rolls a 2 or 12 the player wins double
their wager. If any other number is rolled (5, 6,
7 or 8) the player loses.
Place
Bets - The Place Bets are only for the following
numbers; 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. If you wager on one
of these numbers and it is rolled before a 7 you win
the Place Bet odds for that number, see game rules
for full odds information.
Roll
the Dice
Craps
is a game of CHANCE and central to this game is the
rolling of 2 identical dice. You can't be 100% certain
what the outcome of a roll will be but you can still
have an advantage. Below is a table showing all the
possible dice combinations available, including the
percentage of rolling each given number.

The
Strategy
The
goal here is to get three numbers working for you
at all times. With this strategy you make your initial
"Pass Line" bet and a series of "Come
Line" Bets.
Step
1: Make a "Pass Line" bet. Then roll
the dice.
Step 2: Backup your "Pass Line" bet
with single or double odds. Make a "Come Line"
bet. Then roll the dice.
Step 3: Backup your "Come Line" bet
with single or double Odds. Make another "Come
Line" bet. Then Roll the Dice.
Step 4: When one of your "Come Line"
bets wins, replace it with another "Come"
bet.
You
should have three bets on the table at all times,
unless your "Come" bet has been won or you
have rolled a 7. The theory here is that each time
you make a "Come" bet you are protecting
your "Pass Line" bets and taking advantage
of each roll of the dice.
